The Office for Students (OfS) is the new independent regulator for higher education in England. We were created in 2018 to ensure that all students, whatever their background, have a fulfilling experience of higher education that enriches their lives and careers.
We see diversity as key. Having a breadth of cultures and heritages in our business brings about an inspiring and inclusive environment - so we warmly welcome talent from all backgrounds. We're also very proud to be a Disability Confident employer, meaning we'll provide a fully accessible recruitment process for qualifying disabled applicants.
With the world becoming ever more technology driven we're making sure we keep ahead of the curve. Information Technology is fundamental to the OfS in being able to carry out our role as a regulator effectively. We have just made a major investment in new cloud-based technology that underlines this commitment, as well as expanding our team further to drive forward these changes. Our IT team is at the forefront of tech development - remaining fresh and contemporary to ensure we embrace the direction of our industry. Our commitment and enthusiasm for moving forward with our tech means that opportunity for our people to succeed is truly great, with a wonderful work-life balance and vibrant office atmosphere to top it all off.
This is an exciting time to join our new and growing organisation and to work on a high-profile area of technical development. To work with us, you don`t need to be an expert in higher education, but you will need a passion for making a difference for Higher Education students in England.
The OfS IT team works closely with the business to deliver secure integrated cloud and on-premise based services that support the effective operation of business processes.
Key responsibilities will span across the full lifecycle of the software product, from requirements gathering to delivery and into maintenance and administration. The role requires engagement with internal stakeholders on new project-based activities, and to ensure that architectural considerations are considered, and effective security and best practices are implemented and maintained. The OfS Dynamics Lead will work with a small team of Dynamics Administrator, developers and QA and will create and develop the roadmap for Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the OfS Portal connector, suggesting changes and functionality improvements that will benefit the business users.
The post holder will have the technical expertise of the Dynamics product suite and the ability to apply that expertise to understanding and resolving complex business scenarios through appropriate architecture and exploitation of the Dynamics 365 product.
The role is part of a specialist team of developers that provides advice and technical expertise and to the OfS more broadly, as needed.
We`re looking for candidates to bring with them expertise and experience in this key technology, Previous experience of working with or within the Higher Education sector, while helpful, is not a pre-requisite for this role.
You`ll need to lead and plan work as part of a team to deliver your work to a high standard by the required deadlines. You`ll be able to communicate, complex technical matters in language that is easily understood by stakeholders and business area teams and be comfortable working flexibly with a team on matters which may be complex or sensitive.
If you enjoy working with IT utilising new technology and have excellent problem-solving and communication skills, then we would love to hear from you.
Our IT department is dynamic. It's fast-paced, busy and consistently challenging. It's a friendly and supportive place to gain great experience quickly and personally develop in a customer-focused space - we are not simply just a support team, we are a key partner in the organisation. So, if you're looking for an exciting role in an exciting, friendly place, then feel free to apply and tell us just why we should work together.
