Senior Associate Operational Risk

London

Up to £65000 per annum

Senior Associate, Operational Risk is responsible for the support of successful execution of the Operational Risk Management Framework.

Under the "Three Lines of Defence" model, this role is part of an independent Risk Management department, and directly reports to the manager Heading Operational Risk management in of London.

Second line Operational Risk responsibilities, are typically independent reviews, challenge and oversight of Operational Risks.

The Senior Associate, Operational Risk provides oversight and subject matter expertise on all Operational Risk management activities in London. The Senior Associate provides senior management with a consolidated view of the Operational Risk profile.

This role is responsible for the support of the implementation of the Operational Risk Management Framework in London offices, including reviewing and challenging first line execution. This includes supporting the reporting of KRIs and the setting of the Boards risk appetite. As part of this role, the Senior Associate will work closely with all parts of the organization.

The Senior Associate will support the ORM and CRO Europe, and promote a risk culture ensuring employees understand their accountabilities for Operational Risk and adhere to the corresponding regulatory requirements.

The role assists the ORM in London and CRO Europe in providing an interface with other enterprise areas on Operational Risk and provides guidance on, and input to, the continuing enhancement of the ORMF.

Knowledge & Skills:

* Experience of Operational Risk Management in a financial institution (experience with Asset Management is an advantage)

* Experience in roles requiring product knowledge and process management.

* Broad variety of product knowledge is an advantage.

* Demonstrated ability to work autonomously on projects and within a team environment.

* Good understanding of broader risk frameworks (credit, market, ) and risk management practices.

* Good understanding of UK Operational Risk regulatory environment and trends

* Good working knowledge of standard MS Suite applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Skills:

* Operational Risk skills, practical and theoretical

* Confident, mature approach to problem solving.

* Confident in dealing with multiple stakeholders of all levels of seniority.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

* Ability to manage complexity and change

* Able to work under pressure

Key Accountabilities:

* Support the Operational Risk Manager and the CRO discharging their responsibilities with respect to the Operational Risk Management Framework.

* Provide key information on Operational Risk to the risk management committees

* Help promote sound Operational Risk management practices and culture including conducting training where appropriate.

* Execute the Enterprise ORMF including program strategy, standards, and tools in order to ensure identification, measurement, management, monitoring and reporting of Operational Risks.

* Provide review and challenge of First Line execution of their role within the framework.

* Provide objective and independent Operational Risk advice to Management teams.

* Review, challenge and monitor risk mitigation action plans to ensure they are implemented by management to close identified Operational Risk management gaps.

* Provide oversight, review and challenge to the new product approval process.

* Provide review and challenge to the annual Risk and Control Assessment process.
