Main Responsibilities

Ongoing pro-active maintenance/monitoring of both database and server related infrastructureEnsure all DB's are backed up to the required level and sufficient regularityDesign and Implementation of new Database infrastructure to support new business applications/growthSupport of all SSIS interfaces between Speedy internal systems and 3rd party vendorsTo consult and advise on database problems, and provide suitable solutionsProvide 3rd Line support to the wider IT teams with any server or database related issuesReview system software and firmware updates for services within the database team remit and identify those that merit action, making recommendations for implementation.Act as technical resource, in support of project installations which utilise a variety of technologiesConducting additional ad hoc duties as may be requiredEnsure all IT systems function within the parameters of the Service Level Agreements (SLA's)Responsible for the performance, integrity and security of all databasesProvide performance and tuning of all SQL DB's, following best practiceProvision of OOH service to the business for Database related issuesThe following is desirable but not essentialExperience of supporting Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012Experience of supporting Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016Familiarity with data warehousing principles including cube design

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to develop strong relationships with the team and also IT stakeholders. Technical service delivery will be essential and experience in developing processes and procedures would be ideal as our commitment to continuous improvement is paramount.experience supporting and maintaining MSSQL Server (covering SQL 2008 R2, 2012, 2016 and 2017)Experience with backups, restores and recovery models with knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL ServerExperience in implementing operational automation using scriptsExperience of indexes, index management, and statisticsExperience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting toolsA good understanding SQL SSRS,SSAS 2012,2016 and 2017A good understanding of Database storage technologiesA good understanding of Database security best practicesA good understanding of build and support of Microsoft Server technologiesCorrectly assess impact and urgency of issues and prioritise accordinglyAbility to independently manage workloads and regularly report back on progress to managementStrong analytical and problem solving skillsExcellent communicator both written and verballyThe ability to work well alone and under pressureKnowledge of ITIL and industry best practicesAbility to document procedures to assist other team members in performing tasks
