KEY TASKS:

As a Windows 10 Deployment Engineer the Post Holder will:

Gather Information prior to Deployment of Windows 10 in a specific area, Identifying software in use and escalating to the IT Endpoint Manager through the Lead Windows 10 Deployment Engineer, any software that has not yet been tested or used with Windows 10.

Perform Hardware Refreshes where required according to criteria laid out by the IM&T Department.

Deploy Windows 10 according to the schedule of the Windows 10 Deployment Project.

Provide Technical support to an area of the trust immediately after deployment of Windows 10.

Support the Lead Windows 10 Deployment Engineer and IT Endpoint manager in stock maintenance including preparing equipment for delivery to the end user, receipting goods, storing equipment, disposing of redundant hardware and requisitioning.

In conjunction with the Trust Helpdesk Staff maintain the endpoint configuration items on Helpdesk asset registers; this will include updates to the IT Helpdesk configuration management database.

Operate within the Trust implementation of the ITIL framework of change control, incident and problem management, configuration management, root cause analysis and a process orientated workflow.

Interact positively and productively with the internal IT operational teams as well as a number of third party vendors and managed service suppliers to ensure the delivery of incident resolution and projects in timely fashion.

Be expected to exercise professional judgement when dealing with highly complex technical issues, and has the delegated responsibility to undertake such actions as they see fit. They will be expected to undertake diagnoses of technical issues using their own knowledge and assimilated knowledge from a variety of other sources including third party support organisations, technical documentation and the internet in order to ensure the swiftest resolutions to problems and the most beneficial deployment of technologies. The Post holder will need to be able to analyse the various technical options available to resolve an issue, taking into account any conflicting opinions from other IT experts / professionals.

Communicate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience for example:

*To explain work being undertaken to resolve system failures, that are effecting clinical service, often to clinical staff who themselves are under pressure, in an empathetic and tactful way.

*To communicate effectively with other technical staff who do not share that particular technical area of skill, in order to resolve faults and problems.

*To train new / junior members of the IT Team, and when necessary staff from outside of the organisation.

Be expected to adhere to all relevant Trust policies and to monitor and ensure the adherence of the staff reporting to their post.

Key Relationships

*Firstly to all IT Service customers focused on providing a skilled, high quality and responsive service.

*Secondly to the wider IM&T team ensuring that those who need to know are informed and updated when and where appropriate; on all activities and/or work packages that may or will disrupt the provision of IT service either generally or in a specific area.

*Thirdly to appropriate RD party service providers, particularly in respect of the communications process and cognisant of the levels of service either agreed as part of a project or as defined in the contractual agreement.

General Responsibilities

*The role holder must have good communication skills, both written and verbal.

*Communicates with internal staff and external agencies to ensure compliance with engineering performance targets and project delivery objectives.

*Knowledge or at least awareness of the IT Infrastructure Library standards at foundation level or equivalent.

*Support continuous service improvement for 2nd line teams to sustain the high levels of engineering, quality and services that has become the hallmark of WSH IT.

*The role requires a certain level of Physical activity including walking around the site and lifting and Moving Equipment weighing up to 50lbs
