Power BI Developer

Location: Coventry

Duration: 3 Months

Remote working is typical on a Friday.

Purpose

Experienced Power BI Developer required to work in Utilities company, designing and producing compelling dashboards with market leading visualisation tool Power BI.

The developer will design, implement and deploy datasets, reports and dashboards to shared and premium workspaces based on requirements agreed with the business analysts and taken from the product backlog.

The company follow Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).

Key ResponsibilitiesImporting data from established databases (such as SQL Server, Oracle and SAP), flat files (such as Excel, .csv) and ad hoc data sources (such as the Web or external APIs)Data modelling in Power BI including star schema and relationships, one-to-one and one-to-many relationshipsCompelling report and dashboard design, including innovative use of visualisations (including custom ones) for effective story tellingSolid report design principles including arrangement, proportion, style and composition. Effective choice and use of right visualisations depending on data and desired outcomeAdding measures and calculated columns to columns where appropriateDemos to peers and senior stakeholders

The following are required:Experience extracting data from common data sources such as: SQL Server, Oracle, SAP, flat files, APIsData ingestion / munging / ETLReport and Dashboard designLanguages: SQL, Power Query, DAXFamiliar with cloud and Microsoft Azure platformFamiliar with Power BI online service and Premium features

Desirable Skills and Experience

The following analysis skills are preferred in addition to essential skills:SAP and Power BI togetherPower BI map components including ArcGIS, MapBox, Shape Maps etcR or PythonWorked with infrastructure, cloud concepts and environmentsWorked in Agile teams and contributed to ceremoniesUse of Jira to pick up and report progress of work
