Your technical skills can help us fight crime. Join our specialist Unit.

The challenge of protecting London is more complex than ever and evolving all the time. But thanks to our Operational Support Unit (OSU), officers have a whole range of innovative tech on hand to help. As an Infrastructure & Projects Engineer, you'll provide bespoke broadcast and CCTV systems to prevent and detect crime. Join us and use your technical skills to keep London safe.

The Operational Support Unit (OSU) is a dedicated team of specialist engineers and technical advisors. Together, they provide everything from CCTV and roof-top installations, to operational control room installations and encrypted communications. Your role will be based in the Infrastructure and Projects team, where you'll focus on the design, evaluation, production, maintenance, repair and deployment of broadcast and CCTV systems. A hands-on specialist in IP CCTV surveillance systems, you'll work on new initiatives for overt video monitoring and surveillance systems, including RF technology for deployments.

It's crucial that our technology is effective and works at its very best, so you'll need to be qualified in a Science or Engineering subject (or have equivalent experience). You should also know how to wire and solder system components, and use computer operating systems including Windows and Linux. Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Word won't pose a problem for you, either.

On top of technical skills, you'll need to be good with people and great in a team. It's important that you communicate clearly and accurately both in person and on paper. Ready to work outside normal business hours, you'll understand the importance of flexibility and close collaboration. Please note that a full driving licence is essential.

If you aren't cleared to SC Security level already, you should be prepared to make an application.

To apply, please click the APPLY button to visit our website to download a role specific information pack. Applications will be via a online application form.

Completed applications must be returned by 29th November 2019.

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today's complex policing challenges, we need a workforce made up from all of London's communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential.
