Negotiable rate.Our public sector client in Leeds are searching for a contractor to help kick start a transformation programme- migrating over 1000 servers and 4 Petabytes of Storage from legacy hardware into a converged datacentre.Main Duties & Responsibilities-
1. Bring servers into a compliant state (patching) before we can move them into our new platforms.
2. Negotiate with our internal customers to plan moves for servers and storage into the new platform.
3. Plan with our migration partner to ensure there is a steady supply of servers to migrate
4. Move storage using industry standard tools (eg Robocopy and rsync) and plan appropriate cutover from old to new platforms.Their existing server estate is a mixture of Windows (2008, 2012, 2016) and Linux (mainly RedHat and CentOS) running on a mixture of virtual (HyperV and VMWare) and physical servers; the target platform is VMWare.Server configuration is primarily managed via SCCM (Windows) and Puppet (Linux/Unix) although a significant minority of servers will need manual attention to prepare them for migration.
