Digital Communications Officer- INSIDE IR35Our client based in South East London are looking for someone to ensure our clients digital channels (Internet, online forms, portals, social media platforms, Intranet and email updates) support key priorities, market services and initiatives, raise resident and staff satisfaction and enhance our clients profile and reputation.-Provide advice on the full range of digital channels used across our clients business to help our client manage demand and improve its reputation.-Draft, edit, review and remove content on our clients electronic channels - using simple language and effective presentation to deliver clear messages.-Provide advice, guidance and training to communications colleagues and officers across our clients business to ensure high quality digital content which is consistent with the authority's style guide, complies with brand guidelines and statutory requirements including legal requirements for accessibility and industry standards for usability including the Government Digital Service Standard.-To manage and develop the content of our clients website, intranet and other forms of online communications in accordance with the agreed Communication Strategy.-To contribute to user acceptance testing as part of digital transformation projects once agreed with the head of communications and digital services team.-To research, write and edit copy for our clients website and intranet in accordance with corporate style guidelines and best practice.-Proofread and sub edit copy on screen and hard copy proofs, checking for accuracy, readability and compliance with our clients style guide.-To ensure the design and content of online communication conforms to legal requirements for accessibility and industry standards for usability including the Government Digital Service Standard.KnowledgeExtensive knowledge of best practice in web communications including usability and accessibility.Extensive knowledge of Windows technologies and web development tools such as HTML, content management systems and SharePoint. Knowledge of activities and operations of local government. Good working knowledge of systems for the maintenance and quality control of content on a large, complex websiteGood working knowledge of how to use online communications to develop and maintain mutual understanding and support between a large, complex organisation and its various audiences.Understanding of General Data Protection regulations and how to minimise risk in a local government context.Ability to operate in a complex and sensitive environment.Ability to work on own initiative, accurately, and to tight deadlines, prioritising between conflicting demands.Highly developed IT skills and the ability in particular to use Windows technologies and web development tools such as HTML, CSS, XML, content management systems and SharePoint Excellent communication skills both written and verbalExcellent eye for detail, and a commitment to accuracy and maintaining quality standardsExperience-Successful experience of developing and maintaining content on a large, complex website for a high profile organisation. -Experience of content management systems and web technologies that form the basis of effective online communications. -Experience of writing and editing engaging copy.-On-screen editing experience.
