Job Title: Multi Skilled EngineerLocation: Kingston HillSalary: £30,000 to £32,000 per annumJob type: Full-Time, Contract (37 hours per week)This Post is part of the Maintenance Team of The Company who provides maintenance services, both planned and reactive, for the properties belonging to the University.Key Responsibilities:Undertake work in a safe and effective manner, complying with all relevant safety legislation, and manufacturers' manuals and procedures; to comply with the Health & Safety Procedures on any work undertakenUndertake diagnostic and fault finding workCarry out maintenance tasks including statutory, mandatory, planned preventative and reactive maintenanceInterpret and work from all instructions, drawings and specifications as appropriateAssist in the setting out of new work; identify materials for ordering and collection using relevant tools and equipment, without supervisionUse a flexible approach to perform a wide range of the duties (including working outside your trade area)Use and be competent in the use of all relevant hand and power tools, measuring instruments and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of worksPlan and carry out Maintenance work on systems, plant, equipment and buildings and demonstrate satisfactory operation on completionUndertake inspections for pre-installations and investigating services which may be required for new equipment and in the carrying out of minor installation improvement worksCarry out site based surveys and report all defects to the appropriate manager e.g. hazard noticesPrepare plant and equipment for independent insurance inspection for compliance with Statutory RegulationsTo have an understanding of the skills of other trades, and with suitable training, be able to perform a wide range of tasks of those tradesOn occasions, work with and oversee the work of service contractorsLiaise with the Maintenance Supervisor, regarding plant, equipment and building fabric failures and to request the supply of goods and /or services as necessaryBe prepared to work in hazardous areas, confined spaces and on contaminated equipment using appropriate personal protective equipment and taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment in accordance with the policy and safe working proceduresLiaise with and instruct others on aspects of his / her workCarry out own daily individual administration of work, by the timely completion of works/job dockets/tickets and the filling in of log books, as requiredWith training be prepared to utilise relevant software systems including the use of PDA's, the Planon maintenance system, the BMS, work permit system and the ordering systemTo assist with emergency work as and when requested, including out of normal working hoursSupport the provision of, induction and training of new starters, apprentices and maintenance staff as part of a personal development programmeThe Candidate:Sound knowledge of works within the field of electrical maintenance and a general understanding of general building mattersBasic knowledge of Health and Safety issues in connection with the Construction IndustryAbility to record detailed and accurate repairs information relating to repair inspections or completed repair jobsAble to use mobile electronic equipment (handhelds)Minimum of three years' experience of working within electrical servicesExperience of working within a customer-focused repairs and maintenance serviceExperience of working in a team and in a commercial environmentExperience of working with a range of portable tools, small plant, ladders and equipment to enable duties of the job to be carried outExperience in dealing with multiple disciplines of building services such as plumbing or fabricExperience in dealing with pumps, AHU's, motors, electrical panels, AC and lighting systems etc. from an electrical and mechanical perspectiveExperience in controls and BMSServed an apprenticeship in the Electrical discipline, or obtained an equivalent NVQ/C&G level 318th edition or as a minimum 17th edition with a plan to get the 18th editionWorking Hours: Annual Review - August25 days Annual leave plus 8 Bank HolidaysGroup Personal Pension SchemeLife AssuranceTools TrainingPlease click on the APPLY button to send your CV and Cover Letter for this role.Candidates with the relevant experience or job titles of; Multi-Skilled Electrical Technician, Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, Mechanical Design Improvement Engineer, Design Improvement Engineer, Design Technician, Mechanical Technician, Mechanical Design Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer may also be considered for this role.
