URGENT / Kafka Engineer / Contract / 3 Months / West Midlands / £NEG

Spring Technology are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Kafka Engineer to join one of our reputable clients based in the West Midlands on a 3 month contract (with option to extend)

Responsibilities:

Project Activities

*Maintain Kafka environment builds, such as design, cluster setups, capacity planning and tuning

*Install and run upgrades for the Kafka cluster to update to the latest versions

*Administering the Kafka Platform. Including creating backups & mirroring Kafka cluster brokers, topic sizing, h/w sizing, broker sizing, broker security, topic security, performance checks and consumer/producer access management

BAU Support Activities

*Perform daily operational support and maintenance

*Actively monitor and setup alerting mechanisms for the Kafka Cluster to ensure system health and maximum availability

*Create key performance metrics to help measure the utilization, overall health and performance of the cluster

*Research and recommend automated approaches for administrative tasks/activities

*Able to communicate technical information effectively and translate between difference groups of technical and non-technical individuals

Requirements:

*5 - 8 Years experience administrating multi-nodes, Kafka cluster environment on AZURE HDInsight

*Able to perform health checks and performance tuning on Kafka Cluster and SAP HANA

*Run updates in line with Kafka version changes

*Good knowledge on setting up and deployment SAP HANA streaming jobs

*Other administrative duties
