What would you be doing?
You will help them to migrate from a monolithic architecture to microservicesAssist in architecting systems and applicationsParticipate in regular retrospectives, help surface what's not working so you can fix it, and what is workin so you can improve on itCoach, mentor and develop the engineersConduct regular 1 to 1 sessions with developersLead the creation, availability, resilience, and scalability of software solutionsContinuously improve software engineering practicesLook after 4 different SCRUM teamsEncourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversityManage performance and provide constructive feedback, helping the members of your team become the best they canDefine your career path and embrace the opportunity to grow and learnBenefit from working in a multi-disciplinary team, that uses modern software and product development techniques, and values continuous improvementYou will report to the Head of TechnologyWhat are they expecting from you?
Solid commercial experience with Java, its libraries and frameworksKnowledge of Git, JIRA, ConfluenceExperience with build automation tools like Maven and GradleExperience in designing and implementing large-scale distributed systemsProven experience creating Docker containersKnowledge of Domain-Drive DesignSolid knowledge of microservices oriented architecturesExperience of building and/or working with RESTful servicesKnowledge of Relational Database Management Systems, especially PostgreSQLSolid knowledge of working in cloud based infrastructure, in particular AWSUnderstanding of Computer Science fundamentals like: Data Structures, Algorithms, Distributed Systems, and Information RetrievalDemonstrable knowledge of software patternsYou are able to communicate clearly and accurately about technical topics (in English)Experience making business decisions or leading design and architectural conversationsEnglish professional working proficiencyDemonstrable knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operationsHands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in betweenProven leadership experience and/or demonstrable leadership ability in a technical environmentDemonstrable ability to efficiently manage a large number of concurrent disparate projects, product features and activitiesYou have worked in an Agile environment and are aware of Agile best practicesEducated to degree-level or equivalent by experience in a relevant subjectWhat would be great to have...
Experience building systems to perform real-time data processing using Apache Kafka, or similar technologies (Apache Flink, Apache Spark, Samza, etc.)Knowledge of the Scala programming language and the Akka frameworkExperience with NoSQL database is a plusExperience as an open source contributor and/or speakerWhat do we offer?
