An IT operations assistant is required to join one of Scotland's top digital print & mailing houses, based in Edinburgh.

Key responsibilities

Role responsibilities are to work as part of the IT team in developing, maintaining and supporting the main business systems of the company. This will include network infrastructure, bespoke production software development, data processing and document templating.

They are looking for an individual who can offer the following:

- An aptitude for thinking on their feet and offer problem-solving capabilities in the face of new and varied challenges

- The ability to perform work accurately and consistently to meet strict deadlines and high standards

- Good written and verbal communication skills

- A good eye for detail

- Able to recognise and respond effectively to the needs of customers and staff members

- Actively contribute to improving ways of working and offer new ideas to get better outcomes

Desirable skills

- Working knowledge of Objectif Lune's Pres Connect suite or other VDP document authoring software such as PlanetPress, XMPie, etc.

- Web design languages HTML, CSS, Javascript and knowledge of the associated standards and practices

- Network administration experience on Windows Server platform

- .NET programming (VB.NET/C#) and Visual Studio-based development

Knowledge of the following would be highly beneficial:

- Knowledge of data cleansing and processing techniques

- Knowledge of prevalent data formats and databases including XML, CSV, Excel, SQL Server and MS Access

- Graphic design or DTP skills using such tools as InDesign, Quark, Illustrator, etc.
