Experienced Software Architect (embedded C/linux) needed in Manchester with a world leader in Space Systems Design. The Software Architect will join the Software Design team developing next generation of satellite modems targeted at applications both in the satellite payload and in ground systems including cloud-based hubs and gateways. The Architect will require the following skills:

Essential:

* Experience defining, developing and maintaining full software stack

* Experience of software structures and architectures

* Experience in defining network communications systems (IP networking & routing)

* Experience of OOD and unit testing using C/C++

* Knowledge of embedded operating systems such as Linux

* Experience of embedded processors i.e. ARM, MIPS, RISC-V and DSP

Desirable:

* Experience of architecting and implementing satellite protocols such as DVB-S/DVB-RCS highly desirable

* Knowledge of Linux kernel and device drivers

* Understanding of best practices for system variability, error handling and robustness

* Knowledge of control and management of network elements using a variety of interfaces, such as Web APIs (REST, MQTT), message queues, files and databases
