What we're looking for:

Direct Line Group is in the process of re-discovering its Software Engineering roots. We are looking for Technology Leaders with curious and forward-thinking minds, to challenge status-quo of software engineering and architecture.

We need you to work alongside other Technology Leaders driving Cloud adoption in Infrastructure and Application Development. You will be working on Technical Proof of Concepts, Strategy and Practice definition for Software Engineering.

We are looking for a polyglot programmer with expert knowledge of Java and JavaScript as well as CI/CD, DevOps and SRE practices.

Your role would be fundamental in the future of Software Engineering at Direct Line Group.

Who you'll be working with:

As part of the Engineering Leadership Team, you will be working with Head of Software Engineering, Solutions Architects and other Practice Leads on set of common initiatives, e.g. strategy for Cloud Adoption and Industrialisation, Software Development Lifecycle and new Technologies adoption.

You will join delivery teams to help with new technologies, patterns and process adoption. Insurance experience is not essential, what is important is that you as individual can work out solution to a challenge without being supervised.

What you'll be doing:

Own the design of SDLC with recommended set of Tools, Frameworks and Technologies

Review High-Level and Detailed Solution Designs

Research new technologies and architectural patterns by conducting Technical Proof of Concepts

Work closely with other disciplines including, functional and non-functional testing, security and operations to design solutions capable of quick change and release

Work as part of Delivery Team at early stages of the product development to establish software engineering practices

Collaborate and communicate with Engineering Community

Help building engineering organisation in Direct Line Group by designing interviewing process as well as conducting interviews
