My client, one of the UK's leading energy suppliers, are looking for someone to join their team as an Infrastructure Engineer.

The aim of this role is…

*To deliver L2 support of IT services for approx 460 to 600+business users, customers and IT staff.

*Supporting IT infrastructure at regional sites (Redhill, CW, Leeds, TEG Germany, Netherlands)

*Service failures and delays in restoration can have significant financial and reputational impact on the business

*Participate on Strategic projects with a budget of up to £5 million, purchasing and implementing IT Infrastructure

This role will have a specialist area of expertise - e.g. Windows / Networking, Unix / Middleware, Database Analyst. The following activities are typical but not limited to that discipline:

IT Infrastructure

*Proactively maintain and support TGP IT infrastructure.

*Investigate and attempt to resolve, Incidents/Requests/Changes, and when appropriate escalate to relevant L3 resources (internal/External) as needed.

*Display leadership in area of specialisation (e.g. championing new features)

*To provide technical advice and guidance to in-house and external suppliers on building, delivering, implementing and supporting own area of expertise.

*Participate in TGP business & IT projects.

*Ensure all IT Infrastructure is maintained at the correct patch levels and configuration, minimising risks to TGP

Auditing and reporting

*Ensure periodic & adhoc IT Infrastructure reporting/data required for Audit (e.g. SOX), is completed and published on time.

HSE

*To assess all manual handling or lone working planned or undertaken by self or team/colleagues, to ensure risk are understood and mitigated.

*During Daily activities, identify improvements, or areas requiring improvements that could reduce HSE Incidents.

Skills and Qualifications required:

*Degree or equivalent + 3 years of relevant industry experience in IT infrastructure and support role(s)

Personal skills

*Organisation and planning abilities, ability to work to deadlines

*The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, business and IT, technical and non-technical

*Ability to absorb and retain information quickly with good attention to detail

*Proven analytical and problem solving skills

*Ability to be flexible and capable of multitasking & proritizing in a high pace environment.

Technical skills - General

*Data centre and DR server room maintenance acumen and skills

*Understanding and use of SAN / NAS storage systems eg. EMC VNX

*Use of monitoring technologies -eg. AppManager

*Use of IT Service Management methodologies and tools e.g. ITIL / Marval

Technical skills - Database Administration

*Proven understanding of relational database principles and client/server system architecture.

*Good technical understanding of Oracle database design, operation, management & tuning (9i to 11g)

*Understanding and use of OEM Grid control

*Experience and technical knowledge of Oracle tools including

oSqlPlus | Statspack | Tkprof | Analyze

*Experience and technical knowledge of Oracle recovery methods including

oDb recovery | Oracle standby database/Data Guard | RMAN tape backup & recovery | Export/Import / Data Pump

*Good understanding of SQL and PL/SQL

Technical skills - Windows / Networking

*General Windows & Active Directory administration skills to MCSE standard (Server/Desktop O/S)

*Storage and backup Infrastructure/Technologies (SAN/NAS CIFS, iSCSI, EMC etc.)

*SCCM software deployment skills and awareness of software packaging and patch management

*Scripting ability - PowerShell, VBScript etc.

*Email and unified communications technologies and mail filerting tools

*Good Citrix administration and knowledge of clustering / resilience architecture

*VMWARE administration - provisioning desktops, maintaining OS templates, updating ESX servers

*Network Infrastructure (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP, routers, switches, firewalls etc.)

*Web filtering and ISA server administration (eg WebSense, ISA Server)
