PostgreSQL Engineer with expertise in Postgres, exposure to Containerisation and Orchestration (Docker, K8S..) and one high-level language (ideally Go or Python) sought by a household-name Internet business. Our client is a well-recognised brand with a huge reputation for advanced engineering and innovation in technology. They are now embarking on an initiative to research, design and build an automated "Database-as-a-Service" (DBaaS) platform, designing solutions to enable development teams to get resilient, high performance and production-ready services to support their applications, while ensuring that they can scale these services out to multiple sites globally, in a fully automated way. The successful hires will work with relational and NoSQL database technologies on both Private and Public Cloud infrastructures, with a core focus on containerisation and Kubernetes, moving towards an Operations-as-Code model with a zero-support, self-healing infrastructure. RequirementsExtensive experience deploying and managing PostgreSQL databasesExposure to containers and container orchestration systems such as Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, Helm, IstioExperience in Python or Go preferred. Alternatively, skilled in at least one high-level language such as JavaScript, Java, Python, Perl, PHP, C# or RubyPassion for Open-Source technologiesComfortable adapting to change and learning quickly in a fast-paced environment DesirableExperience using monitoring and alerting tools (e.g. ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, PagerDuty SNMP)Experience in a Multi-Cloud environment (ideally two or more of AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)Grasp of networking fundamentalsKnowledge of SCRUM or other Agile methodologiesExperience/understanding of supporting a 24x7 operation This is an outstanding opportunity to research, design and build a next-generation Cloud Data Platform in a highly innovative engineering environment.
