IT Security Technical Authority

Would you like to become the IT Security Authority for one of the World's Leading Defence Companies? We currently have a vacancy for a IT Security Technical Authority at our site in Farnborough.

As a IT Security Technical Authority, you will be responsible for providing technical guidance, governance and oversight to the EITS provided security operations team and broader PLC (non-Inc) business. The role is charged with improving our Cyber defensive capabilities, reducing technical vulnerabilities, and providing expert technical advice.

The role provides the senior most technical authority representation by the OCIO and provides review and approval/rejection to EITS and the broader PLC business of significant changes to the BAE infrastructure that represent a departure from current or standard approaches, standards, policy or guidelines, which may potentially reduce BAE's security posture

This role will provide you with a chance to make significant and lasting decisions that will ensure the technological security of BAE Systems Company wide.

Your main responsibilities as a IT Security Technical Authority will involve:

Working closely with EITS, the GSOC and the business to design and articulate the technical aspects of BAE's IT Security strategy

Oversee the establishment of a new inter-SOC operational framework

Participate in the establishment of a new SOC in Australia, and the UK SOC if still in its implementation at the point of recruitment

Ensure BAE's external facing (E.g., Internet, customers, suppliers) security posture is robustly defended with no blind spots of infrastructure knowledge or monitoring

Provide advice, guidance and OCIO strategic direction to the EITS security team and BAE Plc business, its toolsets, monitoring objectives and approach

Provide EITS, BAE Plc business and external suppliers with OCIO technical authority to implement solutions that have been escalated by their own governance processes

Working with external suppliers and HMG partners so that current and future situations can be adequately and robustly resolved

Providing advice and guidance on technical and operational aspects of IT security to corporate and business level IT programmes and the internal IT community;

Maintaining awareness (on behalf of the Company) about the impact of key national technical policy developments in IT security.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Significant experience of working at a senior level in a global business in IT Security activities leading to:

Expert level understanding of Cyber Defensive capabilities, techniques, tactics and procedures

At least five years' experience in managing a Security Operations Centre

Experience developing own technical capabilities through coding and scripting (C++, Perl, Python, etc)

Expert level of IT Security Infrastructure technologies, their implementation and configuration

Expert level experience in at least one IT discipline (Networks, Active Directory, Applications)

A full understanding and practical experience of UK HMG,NATO and other nations Cybe Defensive approaches and procedures

Practicable hands on expertise of at least one major area of IT (AD, networks, servers, Application security)

Extensive experience of working with internal or external service providers to deliver IT systems in a regulated / Accredited environment

Experience of working in a complex, multi-site, federated and decentralised organisation.

Strong awareness of and interest in trends in IT usage and IT technology.

Desirable:

Security Related qualifications (i.e. Cisco or Microsoft)
