Senior Systems Engineer - 3 month contract (initially, potential long term assignment). Portsdown. £500-£600 per day. Systems engineer, naval gunnery systems, destroyer, frigate, warship, targeting, gunnery, integration, target designation.This role requires SC clearance, you must be eligible and willing to undergo the SC process in order to obtain the role. We are looking for an individual who is willing and able to work predominantly at Portsdown, however the ability and willingness to travel to other locations in the UK and abroad to support external supplier testing and trials (including sea platform embarkation) will also be necessary.

Responsibilities:Leading a team of systems engineers to deliver ship weapon system-related projects (such as Pointer) (GG13/principal-level role)Responsible for devising and delivering the technical solution using sound technical, management and leadership skills such as systems engineering management and project management (GG13/principal-level role)Ensuring that the system meets appropriate regulatory, legal, safety and other engineering requirements and standards (GG13/principal-level role)Application of systems engineering approach and execution of key systems engineering activities on significant projectsEngaging with stakeholders, project managers and senior technical staff to ensure customer and business needs are satisfied appropriately and problems are mitigatedLeading a technical team in support of project objectives, structuring work of others and reviewing outputDetermines overall systems engineering processes required to achieve technical and programmatic objectives applying broad knowledge of systems engineeringEliciting requirements, understanding them, and addressing their satisfactionPerforming one or more of key systems engineering (e.g. requirements engineering, system design, and/or operation and support) and/or systems engineering management processesDirects technical documentation in support of work carried outDelivers work and reports on progress to project leads and customersAnticipates and escalates major problems with appropriate business and professional discipline staffPlans and structures own workUnderstand and applies relevant regulatory, safety and technical standards to work and supports complianceResponsible for managing the output of assigned junior systems engineers (of potentially different specialisms)Requirements:Degree Level qualification or equivalentCEng or equivalent7 - 10 years plus relevant experience in engineering/systems engineering (9-13 years for the principal-level role)Ability to conduct surface ship trials and support acceptance activitiesAbility to conduct ship hardware surveying down to equipment, interface, power and HVAC considerations, EMC/EMI considerationsGood overall knowledge of several RN surface ship combat systems and their engineering issues and policiesGood detailed knowledge of specific areas of a combat system such as weapon systems (guns, missile systems, their direction and cueing) and their interfacing to the rest of a combat system.Details:Location: PorstmouthDuration: 3 months initially, posiible long termRate: £500 - £600 per day Please apply by submitting your CV.
