Our Client requires a Waste Officer to work on site at AWE Aldermaston to undertake all waste related tasks and issues associated with a current decommissioning projects.You must be able to achieve SC Clearance level. As the Waste Officer, your duties are to include but not limited to:Management on a day to day basis the activities of the Nuclear Waste Team.Management of all generated project waste including the correct accountancy and designation to the correct waste stream.Liaison and co-ordination of waste operations with AWE facility staff and AWE Waste Services Group.Follow the company's Best Available Technique (BAT) process for each of the waste streams.Follow the company's Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) and LLWR WAC for each of the waste streams.Liaise with Health Physics, Analytical Sciences, Waste Specialists and personnel on waste related matters.Understand fully the client's Environmental Permits.Advises on all project waste operations.Assist with the preparation of safe systems of work (method statements and associated risk assessments.Ensure task related documentation is approved and available prior to commencement of waste operations.Ensure materials, plant and equipment is available for operations and fit for use.Ensure work is undertaken in accordance with both the company's and the clients' corporate procedures and local safety, and quality instructions/proceduresComplete waste record cards and appropriate documentation to ensure expedient processing of waste from origin to the waste management group.Complete waste records on the site Dynamic Database (SRWMRS) and appropriate documentation to ensure expedient processing of waste from origin to the Waste Management Group.Control the management of local waste stores/holding areas in accordance with legislative, company and local safety requirements.Negotiate and agree service interaction agreements with the waste route on behalf of the facility, business area or project.Advise the waste producer on the key waste acceptance requirements and standards set by each waste route to ensure effective and safe collection of the waste and on suitable waste storage and containment practices.Act as liaison between waste producers and Waste Department via the Service Desk to enable effective transfer of waste and information/knowledge.Assist waste producers in the identification of waste.Assist the waste producer with organising specialist sampling/waste analysis where necessary.Demonstrate to Regulators or external inspection bodies, when required, the effectiveness of waste processes in use within their working area.Liaise with Facility Environmental Rep (FER) on areas of common interest.Advise waste producer on requirements of sustainable procurement (possibly manage stock for area and enable sharing).
