Job Title: Maintenance EngineerLocation: Hollingdean Lane, Brighton (BN1 7BB)Salary: Up to £33,000 per annum + benefitsJob Type: Full Time, PermanentHours: 40 hrs per week, Monday to FridayWhat you'll do:The Maintenance Engineer will ensure they safely maximise availability and throughput of the Integrated Waste Management Facility by directing and delivering the site maintenance strategy and will focus on the core company objectives of safety and efficiency.You will report any accidents, incidents, near misses, hazard or safety concerns and defects and manage these reports ensuring events and tasks are actioned and closed out. You will manage the CMMS for South Downs treatment facilities and implement Planned Preventative Maintenance and Defect Procedure requirements.The Maintenance Engineer will ensure the safe, efficient and reliable plant operation including compliance with statutory inspection requirements and will oversee management and coordination of equipment maintenance including planned, breakdown and overhauls within strict cost and time frames.You will complete "On the tools" maintenance work as required, manage and control maintenance subcontractors and be responsible for line-managing and mentoring a Maintenance Apprentice / Technician. You will meet and exceed operational KPIs for the Transfer Station and MRF, including minimising operational costs and proactively make improvements to operations and adapt to the changing requirements of the business.You will support the Facility Manager by developing projects, improvements and innovations, and working to improve the efficiency and quality of the plant and its outputs, work a minimum of four "shutdown" weekends per year to maintain the MRF plant and be available for additional overtime including evenings and weekends as required to maintain the operations of the facility, and respond to emergency situations including breakdowns.This role may require you to work at other sites within the South Downs contract area.Where you'll work Hollingdean Integrated Waste Facility is part of the Company's South Downs Contract providing waste recycling and recovery services to East Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council. Comprising a Materials Recovery Facility and Waste Transfer Station, the Facility uses the latest technology to sort recyclable materials and to minimise the amount of waste sent for disposal. You will be part of an on-site team of over 40 people helping to deliver these objectives.The experience you will needThe successful candidate will possess City & Guilds, Advanced Craft, NVQ Level 3, BTEC ONC in Engineering, plus a formal qualification in maintenance, recognised formal apprenticeship or have background and training in Mechanical Engineering.You will have experience at a senior level of maintenance activity in a process or manufacturing environment, preferably the waste industry.
