The design team will be part of Group Transformation and will be responsible for ensuring the design of all customer journeys and connections is human centred, working with cross-functional transformation teams to translate our Design team's vision into deliverable stories and actions.
About the role
The Design Researcher will be part of our Transforming Branches team and works closely with the Design Lead and Product Owner in a Transformation Value Stream to deliver human-centric outcomes and simplified experiences for users.

As a Design researcher you're on a mission to uncover human needs and behaviours, to inform the development of inspired human-centered solutions. You're able to dig deeper to uncover unexpected insights.
You have a firm grasp of how content, brand, and design work together to build an optimal user experience. You understand the importance of working with a broad range of partners to understand the broader business strategy that informs the solution.
Working within a multidisciplinary team covering all capabilities that enables the business to deliver beautiful, engaging, and thoughtful outcomes for customers.
About your experience...
Build high-quality research deliverables, including insights reports, feedback workshops, video highlights, etc.
Designing and running customer research to understand the needs and concerns relating to the programme across a full range of customers and interaction with colleagues - including depth interviews, surveys, diary studies and other research as identified
Participate in stakeholder meetings and co-creation workshops to collect business requirements and explore customer experience challenges
Respond creatively to requests, helping to scope projects to meet timescales and needs
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team and support all stages of the design process, from early problem definition and design research through implementation
Plan/Execute/Analyse research outcomes and develop reports promoting the voice of the Customer
Ensure compliance with GDPR and MRS code of conduct to safe guard our customers in line with the best methodologies
Maintain close relationships with core Design teams (Design Systems, Design Operations) and the Design Research Guild to ensure alignment and engagement in the value stream
Ensuring all research projects have defined goals and objectives and outputs can be measured and easily understood by project teams
Be an ambassador for design thinking, innovation, and human-centered design
...And the skills/background you'd possess
Strong research experience within User Experience and /or Design
An appreciation of agile principles and experience working in an agile environment
Ideally an undergraduate degree in Design, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field. In lieu of a degree, relevant skills or experience
Comfortable working in dynamic projects e.g. Agile sprints
Strong written communication and verbal presentation skills
An understanding and demonstration of user-centered design principles - examples of research outputs ideally showcasing your professional experience
Experience of working on time-sensitive projects with multi-disciplinary teams across complex organisations
