Who we are:

We develop software for calculating and comparing the molecular field characteristics of chemical compounds. We also offer consultancy services which enable companies to outsource computational chemistry work to achieve high value, on-demand expertise, particularly in the areas of library design, virtual screening, scaffold hopping, lead optimization and patent analysis.

The IT Manager Opportunity:

We are a dynamic organisation, which has grown consistently over the last 10 years on the back of excellent products sold into the Pharmaceutical and Biotech industries. As a result of this success and growth we are now seeking an IT Manager to join the company - the role will have a mix of practical and strategic elements, helping us to manage current infrastructure, support the current workforce but also to plan and develop IT systems to support future growth of the business. We operate in a multi-platform environment as our own software products are supported on Linux, Windows and Mac, whilst our future direction is also to cloud applications.

Requirements:

+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in supporting a mixed network environment
+ Whilst the role does not require it, an interest in or experience of computational chemistry would be a positive

IT Manager Responsibilities:

The core responsibilities of the role are:


+ Maintain our existing network infrastructure:
- Linux (RedHat/CentOS and Debian) servers providing user authorisation/authentication via Samba and ActiveDirectory
- Mix of Windows (10) and Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu) clients - small number of Apple Mac's in Development/QA
- File sharing using Linux servers and Synology NAS
- Cisco managed switches and Firewall device
- DrayTek WiFi routers
+ Administer cloud email system - MS Office 365
+ Administer VoIP telephone system (on-premises 3CX)
+ Administer internet security/virus protection (Norton)
+ Maintain remote access via OpenVPN
+ Maintain GPU and CPU clusters (currently using legacy SGE queuing system)
+ Spec, acquire and set-up new desktop and laptop PC's for users
+ Provide front-line support for Cresset users - phone, email, Office 365, laptop/desktop
+ Provide second-line support to customers with IT-related issues
+ Manage back-up of all company data and recovery testing
+ Manage and maintain software licences
+ Record and maintain IT asset list
+ Produce and maintain system documentation, processes and procedures

Secondary responsibilities and other opportunities:

+ Work with the development team on building new applications
+ Testing of our applications

+ Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
