4th May 2019 Are you an experienced leader with exceptional communication and influencing skills?  Do you have substantial knowledge and industry experience working on high volume data validation and exploitation and/or control and instrumentation of sophisticated installations? The UK Atomic Energy Authority have an excellent opportunity for two Group Leaders to join the MAST-U Operations Department responsible for providing effective leadership of staff to achieve group objectives and to contribute to the department and UKAEA`s strategies. The department is relatively new and consists of circa 30 employees, split into groups of ca 10 team members. The department is responsible for operating the UK`s flagship fusion experiment, MAST-U.  Exploitation of MAST-U will directly influence the path to getting electricity from fusion onto the grid. Key accountabilities/responsibilities include:
- Managing one of two technical groups; Machine Control or Data Acquisition & Management
- Taking responsibility for the strategic planning and execution of the work to enable reliable operations and exploitation of the data from MAST-U 
- Provide strong technical leadership
- Foster links with other tokamaks, worldwide, and collaborators working on MAST-U At UKAEA we strive to make everyone feel welcome and fully supported. - Degree or PhD in related subject (e.g physics, computer sciences)
- Recent experience of Control and Instrumentation and/or data management
- Experience in managing projects in a scientific or high-tech environment Desirable
- Experience in a fusion or nuclear or equivalent research setting
