Software Engineer / Software Developer - Cyber/Defence - Gloucester - £35,000 - £80,000 plus benefits (DOE)One of the World's leading Defence companies is looking to expand its engineering capabilities in Gloucester and as such is looking to hire a number of software developers with proven hands on skills with either Java, C++ or C#. This Global tech giant, truly at the forefront of its industry is ramping up its capabilities for 2019 and has positions for Junior developers through to Principal and Lead engineers.
The role
As a developer you will use your knowledge of computer systems and engineering best practice to develop cutting edge software for the wider business and a range of clients. Working closely with customers you will be involved in,
Assisting with requirements analysisSoftware designImplementationSoftware testingIntegration and test activities in support of system upgrades and deploymentsSenior developers will be happy to work with junior colleagues and be given the opportunity to mentor and coach.
Essential skills
Demonstrated competence with at least one of the following programming languages:Java or C++, C#.Strong OO design skills.Familiarity with the Agile development methodology.The ability to create innovative software solutions using appropriate frameworks and patterns, with COTS, bespoke or cloud-based technologies.Solid understanding of TDDSoftware development in a Unix/Linux environment.A passion for developing high quality software solutions.Willingness to support/mentor junior team members.Self-starter with the ability to work with limited supervision.Proven ability to learn new skills quickly.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.High standard of ethics and personal accountability.Desirable skills
Knowledge of one or more of the following:Java8, JEE, C/C++, UML, JBoss, EJB, Spring, Hibernate, JavaScript, React, AngularJS, NodeJS, Cucumber, Docker, Ansible, Ruby, Python, Oracle, MongoDB, Hadoop.Understanding of working in a DevOps environment.Exposure to the Atlassian toolset.UK Governmenrt security clearanceYou will receive continued training and on-going support and can expect to progress your career as you see fit.
Candidates must be willing and able to undergo UK Government Security clearance
