An opportunity exists for one of our clients to join their Global Architecture Team as a Solution Architect.

This technical, hands on role will see you leading teams of on-shore or off-shore developers, working closely with Business Analysts, Systems Analysts and Project Managers to deliver investment, accounting and payment solutions to customers globally.

The Role

* Building a comprehensive understanding of Linux, Unix and Oracle applications, systems and infrastructure across the organisation.

* Communication with clients, key stakeholders and development teams on technical solutions.

* Provide level 3 technical support on Oracle, UNIX and application issues.

* Installation and configuration of software.

* Taking a lead on new technical integration projects.

* Aptly manages team demands on his/her time and shows willingness/ability to delegate technical execution or responsibilities when appropriate.

* Acts as a liaison or primary point of contact for communicating with client-side technical expertise and client contacts.

* Participates in the evolution of company level best practices, standards, and policies as it relates to software development.

* The successful candidate will have considerable experience in Unix and Oracle and will have a background in software development and architecture. The candidate will need to understand the whole stack from operating systems, databases, web servers, configuration management, and architecture and software development.

Key Accountabilities

* Working with Business and Systems Analysts the successful candidate will design and deliver solutions to satisfy customer requirements but within the context of the companys Strategy.

* Engage effectively with Senior IT management to ensure solutions are within the context of companys IT Strategy.

* Engage effectively with Project Managers to ensure solutions are fit for purpose.

* Engage effectively with Business Analysts, Systems Analysts and Developers to ensure designs are properly understood, quality checked, and the solution(s) delivered to Operations to ensure the solutions are understood and successfully handed over for deployment and support.

* Working with Business and Systems Analysts to understand and document customer requirements.

* Designing solutions.

* Quality checking solutions from other Designers.

* Gaining buy in to solutions from the customer, internal Design team and IT management.

* Working with Project Managers and Development teams to deliver solutions ("hands on" where necessary). Project teams may be UK based, US based or offshore, or a mixture of all three.

My clients technology is Unix/ Oracle based. Knowledge and experience in the following products and technologies is essential:

Product & Systems Knowledge

* Database analysis and design to ensure seamless integration of design changes within the existing architecture

* A good understanding and working knowledge of Oracle SQL and Pro*C

* A strong background in pensions DC market

* It would be beneficial to have a working knowledge of pension payroll processing; payment processing and integration with accounting packages

* Is confident making decisions where there may not be an obvious answer

* Is able to recognise the wider implications of decisions and their consequences.
