Requirement for a multi-disciplined engineer to join our applications / technical support team. The products are specialised programmable motion controllers / PLCs, which are used in a broad range of industrial machines to provide core motion and automation functionality.
Clients are throughout the UK market and in most industrialised countries across the world. The technical support team handles requests from this large customer base through a network of sales offices and distributors.
The team is based in our head office in Tewkesbury, and works with colleagues overseas to provide training and applications support for our international customer base. They also liaise with the Development teams in the UK and abroad.
Requirements:
Applicants must have a good degree in Software/Mechatronics/Electronics or a strongly related discipline. They will also be able to demonstrate knowledge of interfacing automation hardware with electrical systems and the basic principles of machine control.
The following is advantageous:High level programming languages; for example C, BASIC, Python, JavaPLC programming, preferably using the standard IEC61131-3 environmentElectrical interfacing between a controller and sensors/actuators in an automation systemServo drives and brushless servo motorsStepper motors and drivesEthernet networks, TCP/IP and topologyPC running Windows 7 / Windows 10Real-time deterministic networks, e.g. EtherCAT, Sercos, CanOpenApplication and configuration of Industrial RobotsProgramming and configuration of touch-screen HMIsBroad personality and the ability to communicate effectively in English.
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the UK, but we especially welcome applications from EU citizens.
A full driving licence is required and applicants must be eligible to obtain business visas for USA, Canada, China and India as some foreign travel may be necessary.
