The National School of Healthcare Science exists to manage and support the implementation and delivery of a broad range of healthcare science education and training programmes across the NHS. We provide digital services for programme applicants, for key members of the healthcare science community involved in recruiting, training and assessing trainees, and for trainees within hundreds of different Trusts across the country.
What you'll be doing
You will occupy a senior role in the Digital Team of the National School of Healthcare Science.
You will directly influence the technology and web services strategy of the National School.
You will develop vital web services that are used by thousands of trainees and Training Officers on national training programmes in many hundreds of locations across the NHS.
You will lead the development and use of mission-critical, back-office websites and web services required to fulfil the remit and enhance the efficiency of the National School of Healthcare Science.
You will work in a small Digital Team who have a large remit to provide a broad range of digital services.
Initially, you will be the sole web developer in the team. Over time we expect to appoint more junior web developers to support you.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a skilled web developer who is a good listener and an excellent and persuasive communicator.
You should be thoroughly focused on understanding and meeting user needs. We are looking for someone who isnot only an excellent and adaptable developer but also someone who can contribute to a strategic view of the digital services that the National School does and should offer.
What specific skills and experience do you need?
You should have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the deployment and management of web applications and services via cloud hosting suppliers and services (from continuous integration management to service and service back-up management).
You should have solid experience of configuring, managing and enhancing Content Management Systems (e.g. Joomla and similar).
