Multi-Skilled Mechanical Engineer

Kelston, Somerset (with occasional travel to other sites)

Our client is an industrial engineering services group that provides turnkey engineering solutions to customers across the UK and Europe.

 

They are now looking for a Multi-Skilled Mechanical Engineer to join the arm of their group that specialises in mechanical handling and lifting equipment.

The Role

 

As a Multi-Skilled Mechanical Engineer, you will install, maintain and service mechanical handling equipment, both in our client's workshop in Kelston and at sites throughout the UK.

 

In this varied role, you will:

 

- Complete servicing, preventative maintenance and repair works to minimise downtime

- Assist site Welders and Fabricators with heavy plant and machinery repairs

- Support Slingers and Riggers during heavy plant and machinery installations

- Help the Technical Engineering team with equipment examinations, inspections and testing

 

About You

 

To be considered as a Multi-Skilled Mechanical Engineer, you will need:

 

- Previous equipment maintenance experience

- An NVQ and/or City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline

- A full driving licence

- Strong problem-solving skills

- The ability to prioritise tasks effectively

 

Experience of working on the following would be beneficial: cranes, mechanical handling equipment, material handling plant, lifting equipment and industrial gearboxes, brakes and couplings.

 

Previous fabrication experience would also be beneficial, as would experience in a port or similar environment.
