Desktop Support Engineer - Guilford - £20k to £25k + Benefits

My client are a Global company who have been providing worldwide testing solutions to a large variety of companies, associations and institutions for decades. They are a leader in the assessment industry offering solutions through multiple business channels.

Main job purpose:

Reporting in to the International IT Manager, the Desktop Support Engineer will be responsible for providing 1st and 2nd line support to all staff across the international business. This will involve troubleshooting hardware and software issues across a number of national and international locations, both remotely and on-site.  You will be responsible for configuration, installation and maintenance of all end-user devices.

Core Skills:An in depth understanding of Microsoft operating systems, including Windows 7 and Windows 10Good knowledge of Office 2016 and the Office 365 applications and environmentSolid knowledge of basic network operation including Wireless Networking, Ethernet, and TCP/IP fundamentalsUnderstanding of print functions and troubleshootingPrevious knowledge of assisting remote users across multiple timezonesKnowledge of VOIP phone systemsExcellent diagnostic abilityGood communication skillsPrevious work in a support / helpdesk environmentDuties:Respond to all helpdesk queries in a timely and effective mannerEnsure that all issues are pursued to resolution, and escalated where appropriateProvide support both locally and remotely to all staffCreate and maintain technical and problem/resolution documentationTroubleshoot, repair and document customer hardware and software issuesBuild, provision and deploy Windows and Mac OS X laptops using automated systemsContribute to process and service improvement initiativesReview long term trends, identify problem areas and recommend and take appropriate preventative action.
