My client is looking for a VM Ware biased engineer-
Essential:
The post holder will be expected to:
* Carry out defined tasks, using standard procedures and tools, associated with the planning, installation, upgrade, operation, control and maintenance of the server infrastructure.
* Provide correct responses to requests for support by making modifications to configurations, developing work-arounds or site-specific enhancements, reconfiguring systems, changing operating procedures, training users or operations staff, producing additional documentation, or escalating requests to systems development staff or software suppliers.
* Ensure all support work is carried out and documented in accordance with required standards, methods and procedures.
* Review performance statistics and advise on current and future capacity issues.
* Monitor application systems/servers by regular scrutiny of reports from the applications software, systems software or service delivery staff.
* Take corrective action where necessary to improve performance and to avoid problems arising. All work to be in accordance with agreed standards and procedures.
* Analyse and report on service and component availability, reliability, maintainability and serviceability taking action to ensure that services and components meet and continue to meet all of their agreed performance targets and service levels.
* Carry out defined backup of data, together with any required restoring of such data.
* Investigate and reconcile violation reports and logs generated by automated policing mechanisms. To investigate any other minor security breaches, in accordance with established procedures and security standards, compiling reports and recommendations for management follow-up.
* Assist in the preparation and maintenance of business recovery plans.
Desirable:
* Understanding of ITIL
* Experience of working within to CSG security standards (IL2/3/Official)
1 Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
Education:
1 Essential:.
* Professional infrastructure management certification or similar credentials
* Experience supporting Windows server infrastructures;
* Experience of working on long and short term formal projects;
* Ability to architect technical solutions, including production of high quality HLD/LLD and SOPs;
* Proven ability working with other staff, both senior and junior in advisory and mentoring roles.
