We are looking for a new Junior Software QA Tester to join a very well established software house based in Watford.
Your role will be to undertake efficient in-depth testing of this companies core product range which is always being enhanced and developed, to iron out flaws, improve quality of the finished product and ensure fit for purpose in preparation for its release to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluation and in-depth testing of new or modified software programs to verify program functionality against a given SOBR or functional/technical specification by detecting flaws e.g. bugs, errors, failures, breakdowns etc.
Investigate and log potential defects and discuss with developers
Test web, mobile and Windows products against multiple supported platforms and environments Investigate new Microsoft operating systems and platforms (e.g. SQL Server) to ensure compatibility
Investigate and recreate specific client issues based on their environment and software setup.
Initiate test planning by writing test scripts and test development Undertake regression testing, stress test testing, usability testing, acceptance testing where appropriate Any other duties that may arise from time to time
Knowledge/Skills Requirement
ISTQB Foundation Testing Certification essential
IT knowledge including SQL Server
Ability to assimilate and quickly absorb the business requirements which underpin existing and newly-developed software
Knowledge of agile/scrum software development methodologies an advantage
Able to propose and construct test plans/scripts and exposure to full life cycle testing - from specification to delivery Knowledge and experience of web and mobile testing approaches Degree qualification
Personality
Self-motivated Natural curiosity and ability to enjoy trying hard to 'break' new product - "tester's glee"
Well organised with ability to work under pressure and to deadline
Accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work on one's own or as part of a team
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to deal with more than one situation at a time.
