The Office for Students (OfS) was established by the Higher Education and Research Act in 2017 and became fully operational in April 2018. OfS`s primary aim is to ensure that English higher education is delivering positive outcomes for students - past, present, and future. The Resources, Finance & Transformation directorate provides critical services to the OfS to enable the organisation to deliver its strategy. The directorate ensures that the OfS complies with statutory and other public sector requirements, identifies and manages risks and opportunities and co-ordinates efforts across the organisation to be efficient and effective.

The aim of the role `IT Trainer` is to support the delivery of training on all IT systems to all employees and new starters within the OfS. Key responsibilities include; ensuring that end users are appropriately trained and fully supported in the day to day use of application software; ensuring that users are supported in their use of technology and can fully exploit the technology to work effectively and efficiently; project management of new features, new systems and enhancements in to the organisation including testing, coordinating technical support, communications and any training needed; leading on communications for the IT support team so that key messages are delivered to all users; assisting with IT Support calls when needed; and supporting with development of the IT service to end users. The role requires engagement with internal stakeholders to scope, plan and create outstanding learning interventions, and ensure our training is credible, accurate, appropriate, and meets the needs of the business. The role is also responsible for contributing to all IT projects in an advisory capacity and to scheduling and deploying the rollout of training for new applications.

In this role, the post holder may support SRU projects from time to time.

The key person attributes required to fulfil this role include; excellent interpersonal skills with assertive and confident communication skills; emotional awareness; ability to read customers and team members and respond appropriately; creative; experience looking for new ways to keep training fresh and accessible with a natural approach to learning; ability to explain technical concepts in a simple way; experience undertaking self-learning of new or updated application software / business processes.
