PURPOSE OF JOB

To be accountable for the contractual and financial viability of bids submitted, contracts accepted and being delivered and to be the commercial link with customers and sub-contractors  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESTo ensure your own safety and the safety of others at all times.To proactively report unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and near misses and to become part of the extra ordinary safety culture and help promote the "Home Safe everyday campaign."Bid PreparationEnsure Terms and Conditions are aligned with policyDrafting of contracts and other commercial documents and understanding of the consequences of contract terms for the BusinessIdentifying business risks in bids and relevant mitigations and opportunities and ensuring that assessed risk is built into commercial termsLiaison with Finance in raising of bonds and bank guaranteesSupporting Tendering Department in costing bids and advice on the appropriate mark-ups.Supporting the bid managers in the preparation of the Win Plan and the commercial approach and price to winEnsure appropriate flow down and management of conditions and risk to supply baseReviewing and authorising bids and contracts in accordance with delegation of authorityNegotiating contract conditions with ClientCommercial Post Contract ManagementChange management of contractsNegotiating contractual disputesIdentifying business risks (i.e. risk to profit margin) in contracts and relevant mitigations and opportunities to increase marginAdvising Internal stakeholders on compliance with contractual obligationsSupply Chain commercial managementImproving commercial awareness within the businessKEY ACTIVITIESIdentifying the optimum commercial strategy for bidsPreparing responses to terms and conditions and preparation of suitable terms and conditions for unsolicited bidsDrafting and negotiating confidentiality, teaming and collaboration agreementsActively participate in Project Risk and Opportunity reviewsSupporting internal approvals and ensuring business risk is appropriately disclosedParticipate with the bid team in the generation of commercial terms and costsSupporting Procurement Department in the preparation of the procurement plan and in ensuring appropriate terms and conditions and risk is flowed down to the supply base.Supporting procurement in the management of supply contracts and sub-contractsAttend or chair meetings as required.Participate in lessons learned meetings for all completed contracts, ensuring that any issues are noted and improvement actions identified.Assist the Project Manager in the identifying contract change.Advise the Project Manager of both opportunities and risks.Participate in project financial reviews in conjunction with the project management team to evaluate cost variances and prepare corrective action plans.Liaise with the client's project commercial teamLead the Project Controls customer reporting on larger projectsCORE COMPETENCIES

QualificationsDegree in Quantity Surveying or Engineering qualification with RICS accredited conversion course.REQUIREMENTS
 Commercial Management of multi discipline contractsUse of the MS Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)Knowledge of the NEC3 suite of contractsProject ManagementPersonal Attributes
