Role Purpose

Provides specialist testing advice and delivery and is accountable for managing testing activities on application or infrastructure projects within a program or service as part of a risk treatment and validation activity. Supplies stakeholders with the data they require to be able to make informed decisions in respect to solution or component suitability to progress to the next development stage or for release into production. Expected to contribute to test estimation when required. The role holder may be more focused on technical testing specialism or test management. Lead practitioners have capability in multiple advanced testing areas and/or work on medium complexity projects in a test management capacity.

Key Accountabilities

* Understands the requirements for testing associated with own areas of testing specialism or within project and agrees testing scope with stakeholders.

* Accountable for the delivery of testing activities within budget and timescale in own areas of testing specialism or project.

* May have accountability for management of a test team.

* Creates test plan documents, associated with testing specialism or test strategy for projects, that address the requirements and mitigate the risks of the solution under test.

* Organizes test materials, environments, tools and resources required to deliver the planned testing activities and co-ordinates the delivery of testing against the schedule, reporting test progress, risks and test incidents and collecting test measurements and metrics.

* Undertakes bid and pre-sales activities relating to own areas of testing specialism or test management.

* Contributes to internal testing standards.

Key Performance Indicators

* Produces clear and unambiguous test plans associated with own areas of testing specialism or project that address project requirements and risks.

* Effectively communicates test plans and/or strategies throughout project & customer teams.

* Successfully delivers all testing activities identified in test plans within budget and timescale constraints.

* Accountable for accurate test cases that address clearly defined requirements.

* Accountable for test cases with an appropriate level of detail for the target audience responsible for test execution.

* Familiar with range of testing tools

* Contribution to bids and testing standards.

* Builds strong test teams (where accountable for test management)
