Job description / Person specification

Key accountabilities:

1. Provides systems expertise for design, development, evaluation and assessment activities for a range of small scale projects, and supports the provision of expertise to higher level projects and programmes

2. Provision of system level design expertise

3. Provision of technical support and advice to customers on system requirements, design solutions, testing and performance

4. Provision of support to the development of novel solutions

5. Production of technical documentation in support of work carried out

6. Plan/structure own work and report to Project Manager/ Lead Engineer on progress

Experience and qualifications

1. Degree Level qualification or equivalent

2. CEng or equivalent

3. 7 - 10 years plus relevant experience in engineering/systems engineering or requirements engineering

Particular skills/experience required

1. Good broad knowledge of software design and implementation, including relevant styles and techniques

2. Understanding of and experience in product development considerations, including software modification and tailoring on large scale software systems

3. Understanding of and experience in system development issues such as the development and application of a ‘house style’ for system design, configuration management, software deployment considerations, non-functional considerations (security accreditation, safety certification, resilience, performance, availability)
