Role: Domain Architect

Duration: 3-6 months

In the position of Domain Architect you will be accountable for creating and supporting the delivery of a data driven architecture that meets the needs of analytical, business and engineering teams. You'll be aligned to a Domain (e.g., Viewing , Digital or Trading) and are accountable for defining their target architecture for the use of data and analytics, defining the roadmap and delivering the architecture that moves that Domain forward through the use of data and analytics.

As a member of the Data, Technology & Operations team you'll:

* Own the definition and achievement of target architecture and transitional architectures from the current architecture for data, analytics and data products in the Domain. Gain buy in from all stakeholders for those architectures.

* Translate the user stories, functional and non-functional requirements into transitional designs, and create an effective data and applications architecture. This will include working closely with the analytical teams to ensure any analytical requirements are met, and business teams to ensure requirements are met and that you drive requirements from an understanding of the business value that can be derived from new data and new uses of data. The analysis and design deliverables will be both paper deliverables and prototypes

* Identify, create and apply design patterns.

* Ensure the development and delivery of cost effective Domains by providing a high quality Domain architecture for projects and ensuring that appropriate trade-offs are being made.

* Work closely with the development teams to ensure that the Domain is well understood and developed in line with the Domain architecture.

* Be part of the programme and project team and understand the wider deliverables and benefits, if DTO is one of several parties involved.

* Develop key relationships across project, analyst and business teams to enable the seamless delivery of the Domain.

* Be the point of contact for the Domain's business and analyst community with regards to the provisioning and processing of data to meet the Domain's business objectives.

* As a member of the Domain Architecture community, lead the Architecture Board, Peer Review process and other relevant technical communities to ensure that the architecture meets standards, develops new standards where necessary and knowledge is shared.

* Be able to work within and across Domains in line with project priorities.

* Lead requirements gathering and solution design to ensure we have effective and well described architectures. Be flexible in ways of working to deliver value at speed whilst makes sure the design meets today's and future needs. For example, the use of Design Thinking, the development of prototypes and being a member of a squad that delivers using Scrum.

Candidate Specification

* Expertise in information management, data engineering and customer centric decision making and insight Domains for large scale data complex organisations, including data warehouses and near real time analytical processes.

* Expertise in data and analytics capability, and the use cases, requirements, architecture & design to deliver that capability at an enterprise scale. Expertise in:

o The storage and processing of data in Google Cloud Platform,

o Inmon and Kimball approaches to data modelling and schemas,

o Data integration / extraction, transformation and load (ETL) of data.

* Leadership of teams that include Business Analysts and Architects.

* Experience of working in a matrix team to deliver projects whilst demonstrating accountability for the design

* Has people management experience in a matrix organisation

* Experience and prior accountability for requirements through to design, and experience in taking responsibility for the design meeting business functional and non-functional requirements

* Experience of Cloud and Big Data technologies including the following would be advantageous: Google Cloud Platform, Apache Beam, Python, Java, SQL, Tableau, Netezza, and Sybase IQ.

* The Domain Architect will be able to deliver and lead processes that are appropriate for the project delivery, including but not limited to leading Design Thinking, workshops, requirements gathering and validation processes, and delivering high level designs.

* Experience of Data Platforms hosted on Cloud platforms.

* Experience with CRM, telephony, web technologies, digital systems or video streaming technologies

* Experience of developing long term customer relationships with business and analytics communities.

* An expert understanding of the 'art of the possible' from a data and analytics perspective to enable consulting with business and other users about capabilities that can be delivered with data and platforms.

* An expert understanding of the tools and technologies, processes and procedures that bring data 'to life'

* Articulate, with excellent written and verbal communication, and strong presentation skills, able to produce high quality, well-structured documentation.
