Web Application Developer (Senior)
A Senior Web Application Developer is required to join a FTSE 250 engineering and support services organisation based in Bristol/Keynsham. Within the solutions team you will deliver collaborative solutions for use by the entire UK defence maritime enterprise.
You will be a core member of the development team taking on a prominent role in the design and development of innovative software solutions. Your key responsibilities will be:
* Producing and reviewing solutions designs and liaise with the Business & Systems Analysts to ensure solutions are delivered in line with business requirements
* Translate requirements, user cases and storyboards into functional applications
* Ensure customer requirements are understood and solutions are fit for purpose
* Managing development activities and projects to realise management goals
* Maintain technical experience and skills to a level that allows for assessing, advising and championing of alternative recommendations
* Provide necessary input to bids and tenders
* Design large/complex programmes from supplied specifications using agreed standards and tools
We are looking for someone with experience in the full development lifecycle with a passion for software development. Experience and skills required:
* Strong commercial experience in designing, developing, deploying and supporting websites, web applications and middleware components and services - using ASP, ASP.Net, C#, Oracle)
* Good knowledge of development tools such as Visual Studio
* Experience of developing RESTful or SOAP web services
* Good knowledge of database design and working SQL
* General working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
* Ability to share knowledge and mentor other developers
* Comfortable working with waterfall and agile approaches to software delivery
* Excellent communication skills
* Knowledge of MVC, nHibernate, JQuery and Entity Framework (desirable)
* Unit and integration test development knowledge (desirable)
