About the role

We the UKHO are a UK government agency who are recognised as the global leader in maritime geospatial information.

As the .net software lead, you will be constantly raising development standards, policies, practices and procedures

You will be coding in .Net, ensuring designs are good, our software is of the highest quality possible and empowering innovation and best practice throughout our teams

We only utilise industry leading platforms and systems based on the very latest technologies, frameworks and platforms.

Outside of the Scrum team, as the Lead.Net Software Engineer you will work with other Lead Engineers, Architects and Product Owners to shape the future of software development within the business. You will drive adoption of new tools, frameworks and techniques.

You will also be a thought leader and mentor junior staff and be a core pillar in expanding our engineering community.

As part of this exciting, varied role you will gain experience in ; Automated unit and system testing, ASP .Net MVC, WPF, Team Foundation Server, Cloud platforms, e.g. Azure, VSTS.

We are looking for you to ensure the team has the right technology, produce good resilient code and has the capability to prioritise to help achieve our core aims.

About You

We’re looking for someone with a broad range of commercial experience, who has an advanced understanding of .net , firm knowledge about quality and experience of technical management.

You will also have the ability to mentor more junior staff and play a positive role in building our engineering community.

You will get the chance to learn about distributed computing on Hadoop and geospatial technologies.

You will be short-listed against the following competencies:

› Experience in providing technical management including the enforcement of quality practices

› Broad knowledge of design principles and patterns, able to lead the design of systems or components

› A broad range of commercial experience, including crafting good quality code in C#

Interview

As part of the interview process you will be required to take a technical test and a interview which will consist of competency and technical based questions.

You will be interviewed against the following criteria:

› An advanced understanding of the .Net framework

› Experience in providing technical management including the enforcement of quality practices.

› Broad knowledge of design principles and patterns, able to lead the design of systems or components

› A broad range of commercial experience, including crafting good quality code in C#.
