Senior Mechanical Development Engineer, Near Portishead, £42,000

Huxley engineering are recruiting for one of their key clients near the Portishead area that specialise in the design and development of special purpose electro-mechanical machinery for a niche industry sector.

The business is highly innovative; customer focused and has consistently grown over recent years. It offers all the advantages of a large multinational company backed up by the security and professionalism of a global group.

Main responsibilities will be to provide engineering support to the Key accounts. As well as developing design improvements, quality improvement, cost reduction, enhanced functionality, engineering change and providing support to production on day to day issues.

Skills required

Strong problem solving ability

Ability to plan and estimate duration of their work in the context of larger projects

Experience of working on a system or equipment design / development environment preferred

Ability to perform engineering calculations and basic FEA in support of the design.

Understanding of piping and instrumentation diagrams and system schematics

Experience of FMEA, HAZOP, DFMEA and other design and risk analysis techniques

Experience in the type testing of equipment in support of design.

Value engineering

Hands on ability to build rigs and develop testing plans

Used to working in a multidisciplinary environment

Attention to detail and right first time approach

Good written and oral communication

Ability to plan and estimate duration of their work in the context of larger projects

Understand key project deliverable and requirements and have the ability to report concisely to the project leader

Positive attitude and ability to work under pressure.

CAD 3D modelling and an element of design drafting would be very useful

Knowledge of BS EN 8888 At least 5 years' experience within a multidisciplinary engineering environment

Salary will be £35,000 - £42,000 depending on experience + benefits.
