An opportunity to work with one of the biggest suppliers in the automotive industry as a Functional Safety Engineer. You will be required to work as part of a team of engineers, supporting development of automotive products in the field of functional safety. The role includes creating the safety case for the product including defining the systems, software and hardware concept and requirements; performing, supporting and monitoring all activities related to safety related engineering; working as part of the development team to analyse, verify and validate the product according to the safety concept.

Job role:

* Working with the project manager and development team to define, plan and execute all safety activities according to the requirements of the functional safety standards.

* Leading and taking part in safety related engineering activities such as FTA, FMEA, FMEDA and FMECA to verify a product according to the required safety integrity level.

* Leading and supporting requirements engineering activities to ensure all safety related requirements are traced from safety concept to implementation, and to verification and validation work products.

* Performing internal audits on safety related products.

* Supporting safety related problems identified on serial production product, including analysis, defining and implementing engineering solutions, and working with project managers to define and execute any contingency plan.

* Work with external safety certification bodies to review and refine the Safety Plans and Safety Concept where required by the safety assessment audit plan.

* Promoting internal safety culture on safety related product development and across the organization.

* Creating, maintaining and reviewing processes relating to safety related engineering activities.

* Enhance, nourish and sustain safety culture across the organization.

Must have experience and skills in ALL of these areas below:

* Experience in the role of Safety Manager in safety related projects.

* Strong experience with the automotive functional safety standard ISO26262.

* Experience of working with the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) development framework, ISO12207 or CMMi model for systems and software development.

* Experience in engineering analysis techniques such as HARA, FTA, FMEA, etc.

* Experience in development of automotive products utilising electronics and embedded software.

* Experience in requirements management, traceability, verification and validation.

* Creation and maintaining Safety Plans and Safety Cases.

* Auditing safety related work products according to the requirements of ISO26262 and other relevant standards

Desirable experience and skills:

* Functional safety experience to other industry standards such as IEC61508, D0178B or similar.

* Experience with high level automotive CAN protocols, especially UDS-on-CAN, OBD, and J1939

* AUTOSAR

* UML

* Experience with other vehicle network technologies, especially CAN FD, FlexRAY, and vehicle ethernet

* Experience working with automotive OEMs or tier 1 automotive suppliers

* Practical knowledge of automotive and similar technologies, including motor inverters, automotive electronics and topologies and CAN protocols : UDS, XCP, CANopen, J1939, OBDII,

* Experience with CASE tools, such as requirements management tools, systems and software design tools, analysis tools, etc.
