An industry leader in the provision of sustainable, energy efficient solutions to customers in both the public and private sectors is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join them and play an integral role in the delivery of energy projects.

Scope of work

As Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading mechanical design solutions for distributed generation projects across multiple technologies including Combined Heat & Power (CHP), gas and diesel generation.

The role will encompass responsibility for the development of viable solutions, end-to-end design and engineering delivery across distributed energy projects for both industrial and commercial clients. As Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will visit customer sites to carry out feasibility surveys and compile follow-up reports. It will also involve assessing various aspects such as location, access, mechanical and electrical connections, ventilation/exhaust routes and installation costs.

Taking a prominent role in technical meetings during the technical stage, you will ultimately formulate the initial design and, through collaboration with the CAD team, produce suitable drawing arrangements for presentation to the client. Furthermore, as Lead Mechanical Design Engineer you will assist in the preparation of costs for the proposal, prepare P&ID drawings and obtain quotes for the project. It is important that you are comfortable providing technical support to customers both externally and internally.

The role will be based from their facility in Manchester.

You will:

* Possess a technical design background and experience of CHP installations requiring conceptual design input through to complex energy solutions.

* Hold a minimum degree level in mechanical engineering, building services or other relevant subject or an established background in this sector.

* Have an organised, logical approach to work

* Have the ability to work individually as well as part of a larger mechanical design team

* Possess technical skills in energy efficient systems with experience in the delivery of CHP and energy-saving projects.

* Have a proven track record leading technical projects and delivering to agreed deadlines.

* Be comfortable working as a team with a proactive approach to dealing with clients/suppliers.

* Be able to commute to their Manchester facility.

The business has projects across the United Kingdom and international customers in over 30 countries around the world.
