I am working in partnership with a leading Microsoft Partner and Managed Services Provider in the North East who are looking to expand their IT Support function with the addition of a 1st Line Support Engineer. They are an established organisation, providing a range of services (e.g. Cloud Services, Data Centre Solutions, CRM/ERP Implementations etc.) and this role will see you come in with the opportunity to eventually progress into a Tech Consultancy position should that career path appeal to you. You'd be joining a talented group of individuals and the company offer an excellent working environment including free on-site parking, modern spacious offices and flexible working hours.

In terms of the role itself, the core focus will be providing 1st Line Support to both external customers and the internal business functions. Due to the customer-centric nature of the business, providing high-class customer service is the absolute key focus of the role and you will be expected to deal with a wide and diverse range of technical issues. Problem solving will be at the heart of your day-to-day role and an understanding of a variety of technologies is therefore preferred.

In terms of specific knowledge, experience with the following is preferred:

* Strong knowledge of the Microsoft technology stack including commercial experience working with Windows OS (XP, 7, 8, 10), Windows Server, Active Directory, Office365 and Exchange Server.

* Knowledge of SQL and basic database support.

* Good understanding of core Networking technologies (Cisco, TCP/IP, DHCP, VPN, LAN, WAN) and VOIP (Mitel).

* Background in a customer-facing role, working for either a Managed Services Provider, Software House or Tech Consultancy.

* Experience with Virtualisation technologies including VMWare and Hyper-V.

* Experience liaising with different departments within a business and the ability to deal with both internal and external stakeholders.
