Distributed operations specialist required to join our client a major global banking and asset servicing company on an initial 6 month contract basis in their Manchester office. The successful Operations Specialist/Systems Administrator must have previous distributed systems administrator experience supporting a Windows and/or Unix environment. Strong Network Skills are an absolute must for this position.

The role

Distributed operations specialist - 2 - 3 years of distributed compute experience in either/or Windows or Unix. Associates degree or trade school equivalency required.

Works as a team member to assist in the implementation and support of systems in a production environment. Under the supervision of senior team members, his/her responsibilities will be to track problems according to standards and refers problem to the next level of support if appropriate.

The candidate will work on a shift which will share 24 x 7 support coverage which may require weekend and holiday coverage.

Essential Skills

The Distributed operations specialist Provides first line remediation support for issues impacting the distributed environment.

2-3 years of distributed systems administrator experience supporting a Windows and/or Unix environment. 1-2 years with a degree or trade school equivalent.

The candidate should also have experience with the following technologies:

o Windows servers

o Unix/Linux servers

o PuTTY or other terminal emulator

o A working knowledge of network technologies

o MoogSoft

o Remedy

o Strong MS Office and communication skills
