ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - SYSTEMS / SPECIAL PURPOSE MACHINERY

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

6 MONTH CONTRACT

WEST SUSSEX

Our client has completed the concept stage of a novel new sytem and is now moving to the detailed design phase of their project - they require an electrical systems engineer to work with the existing team of engineers.

The purpose of the position is to develop electrical solutions that comply with standards and regulations for integrated systems. The role will require expertise in 200/400V 3 phase power distribution including the use of intricate copper busbar configurations with high current capability. An essential requirement is the ability to budget electrical supply for a complex variety of components within the system ensuring appropriate protection. The main deliverables of this role are accurate 2D electrical designs within the integrated system, mains wiring and distribution, 3 phase electrical safety and protection for high current applications, PLC layout and functionality, 24Vdc subsystem designs, looming and harnessing, cable supports and trays, as well as an excellent ability to design EMC solutions for multiple applications. They must also be able to define P&ID's and electrical system schematics. Experience of IEC and NEC Electrical Compliance and Regulation would be advantageous.

Broad Activities:

Generate reliable, robust design solutions from technical requirements specifications, whilst minimising cost.

*Derive requirements from either system functions, customers or marketing specifications.

*Design compliant solutions for electrical systems that are efficient and cost effective.

*Generate2D schematics using AutocadM, AutocadE and Microsoft Visio. *Output clear specifications and parts lists using Microsoft Word & Excel. *Able to provide concepts and design solutions for 200V/400V 3 phase Power Distribution Systems with high current requirements. *Consideration for earth bonding and electrical safety. Experience of NEC Standards would be advantageous.

*Experience in designing low voltage control circuits, network communications and PLC design layouts.

*Good understanding of system control of complex industrial electrical equipment.

*Bills of Material definition.

*Capable or willing to learn 3D CAD system to be able to derive solutions and space claims.

*Produce drawings of looms / harnesses / trays / supports that can be manufactured efficiently and economically.

*Experience of EMC compliance and regulation.

*Produce highly accurate and complete designs which present a clear and comprehensive statement of what is required.

*Derive total system electrical budgets for variable solutions.
