VMware Technical Specialist - Permanent -Nottinghamshire- £70,000 (DOE)

Spring Technology are partnering with a global company in order to find an extraordinary talented VMware Specialist.

My client are a large retail company who can offer the successful candidate an amazing working environment and exposure to the latest cutting edge technology.

The VMware Specialist's role You will take responsibility for the architecture, design, and implementation of the VMware and Linux Server Infrastructure used within the SportsDirect Group. This is a role that requires architectural and design knowledge as well as hands-on skills and you will be expected to provide 3rd line support for the solutions that you create, as well as create and deliver training material for 1st and 2nd line teams to support the environment.

Responsibilities

*Day to day you will be responsible for monitoring the VMware environment, ensuring its availability performance and security.

*Identifying opportunities to reduce risks and tighten the security posture.

*Dealing issues and troubleshooting backup, performance / failure issues when highlighted to you.

*In between this you will plan, design and implement the changes you have identified as appropriate to the business including the development of our Redhat Satalite platform for patching and maintaining their Redhat, CentOS and Unbuntu clients and servers.

Skills/Experience Required

*Deep technical knowledge of VMware and the Linux platform

oVMware and SAN storage in a Fibre Channel environment

oVMware networkingVSphere and delegation of permissions

oLive Migration, DRS and HA capabilities

oVSphere Update Manager

oHost Profiles and other policy-based management

*Desirable:

oStrong Knowledge of Windows operating systems

oSAN Administration

oLinux deployment and administration experience, ideally ReadHat / CentOS / Unbuntu

*Helpful friendly and approachable, able to communicate to both technical and non-technical

colleagues

*Ability to comprehend business impact of IT and the risks and opportunities associated with

change

*Manage and prioritise your workload

*Plan and estimate project durations

*Create clear written documentation

*Deliver training and material to 1st / 2nd Line teams
