Plans to relocate BBC Cymru Wales to a new purpose-built broadcast headquarters in Central Square, Cardiff in 2019, are now in the implementation phase. The Central Square Programme is developing an affordable, highly cost effective, flexible and fit for purpose environment for growing and sustaining creative success through the delivery of high quality, greatly valued, distinctive content across all platforms. This will be a future proofed solution that will realise benefits for Welsh and UK audiences, meeting the needs of the BBC and its partners in Wales, and complementing the long term production, property and productivity strategies across the UK.

The Central Square programme is entering into a second phase of implementation which requires a significant amount of Testing and Test management of the Technology and processes being deployed at Central Square, and therefore requires two Test Leads.

Role Responsibility

The Test Leads will be allocated to multiple projects as and when required by the project team, and will work closely with the relevant Project Manager, Senior Architect and Operational Architect.

They will apply the test approach using the prescribed tools (Testrail & Atlassian JIRA), and will be a champion for principles laid out at a programme level, ensuring there is consistency in the way evidence is collated.

They will support approach to triage and defect management and will asses test resource required and secure operational involvement via BBC Wales schedulers. They will also be responsible for identifying resource bottlenecks for testing, identifying dependencies between projects within the group, and then feeding back any implication to the overall testing timeline.

Are you the right candidate?

The successful candidate will be able to provide evidence of ‘leading’ significant test activity with a team of testers (Co-ordination, Planning, Communication skills). They will be proficient with prescribed tools - Testrail / JIRA and have knowledge of test theory - consistency, process & quality.

They will be able to demonstrate an awareness of Project Lifecycle and the link between requirements and acceptance criteria, and provide evidence of facilitation for moderation during defect management.

Effective leadership and collaboration inside and beyond the team, and the ability to influence diverse and senior stakeholders effectively, are also essential for this role.
