Huxley Engineering and a Multi-£Bn Global Name in Industrial Process are looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer for their large Production facility in the Runcorn area and is critical in enabling required engineering and plant performance via the application of Professional Engineering methodologies
Reporting into the Site Engineering Manage, the Mechanical Engineer is essential in the implementation of Professional Maintenance standards for the plant and delivery of specific project improvements and the Mechanical Engineer will have 5 - 6 direct reports, as well as budget accountability for part of engineering department spend.
The Key Accountabilities of the Mechanical Engineer are:
Performance
* To support the plant drive to achieve Time Efficiency by deployment of PM pillar projects
* To deliver effective planning for down days, projects, etc
* Ensure WCM methodology is embedded and used as the key process in identifying and prioritising plant losses and initiating continuous improvement, delivering against the annual cost deployment matrix.
* Deploy the planned preventative maintenance system through the factory
* Manage the WCM EWO process to analyse breakdowns and prevent re-occurrence of failure
* Deliver improvement projects to reduce downtime, control cost and improve plant availability
Leadership
* Responsible for managing the performance of hot/cold end engineering team
* Responsible for developing the above team through regular reviews.
* Through appropriate management style, foster a culture of engagement, commitment and continuous improvement within the plant.
* Manage employee relations issues up to the level identified in grievance and disciplinary procedures.
* To provide mechanical engineering expertise and guidance to mechanical tradesmen both on shift and on days
* Part of the weekend rota to monitor ongoing engineering work and plant performance and part of the site call-in rota as required
* Lead and deliver quantifiable benefits from identified PM projects in accordance with WCM methodology and business requirements
* To establish PM pillar foundations (step zero activities) for the plant including the definition and provision of critical spares, analysis and tracking of tag management system, the building up of an effective maintenance information and documentation system and the reduction of plant breakdowns using the EWO method.
* Generate the weekly Engineering task programme and actively track conformance to this. This is to include planning of PM, EWO corrective action and project activities. Continual review require of the timing and scope of all PM activities
* Active involvement in all World Class Manufacturing (WCM) activities within the factory, particularly the PM (Professional maintenance) and AM (Autonomous (operator)) pillars
* Generation of long range capital investment plans
Specifically, my client are looking for a Mechanical Engineer who possesses the following:
* Degree qualified Engineer (in Mechanical Engineering or similar) or equivalent
* IOSH Certificate
* WCM practitioner (AM, PM)
* Good IT skills, especially Excel for data analysis
* Experience in managing engineering teams within a unionised environment (Plant size >100 people), and driving continuous improvement, ideally in a WCM environment.
* Experience in Professional Maintenance would be advantageous.
The Mechanical Engineer Role requires someone with a high degree of numeracy and analytical skills, using data analysis and statistics to identify plant losses and stratifying data down to root cause.
For the successful Mechanical Engineer, a salary of £40k and package is on offer and this Mechanical Engineer role is commutable from Chester, Liverpool, Warrington, South Manchester, Runcorn, Widnes, Northwich, Speke, St Helens and Crewe.
