As a Technician, you'll apply technical knowledge and skills to ensure maximum availability and optimum performance of IT Systems and Services.

Experienced Storage Technician with expertise in a selection of the following technologies:

* TSM v5/v6/v7

* NetApp cdot

* Mainframe SMS, HSM, FDR, TLMS

* HPP (Sepaton)

* HDS G1K

* Luminex

* SAN (Brocade)

* Linux

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Working in a range of environments, including within projects and/or operational teams.

* Maintaining up to date technical knowledge in one or more specialist areas.

* Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with a range of technical and business stakeholders, including internal and third party suppliers.

* Being able to react quickly and confidently, potentially during unsocial hours, to maintain IT services.

* Applying technical knowledge and skills to resolve incidents as they occur, to maintain IT service continuity.

* Proactively maintaining existing systems in line with relevant standards and controls, to ensure the provision of IT services.

* Identifying and eliminating the root cause of system issues, to avoid repetition of problems and improve the overall quality of service.

* Providing in-depth technical input to designers in areas of your own specialism to influence the direction of design, and ensure smooth implementation of new or enhanced systems.

* Developing and documenting processes to accompany new systems or enhancements, to ensure effective implementation.

* Actively managing any vendor supplied system licences to help control costs.

* Monitoring controls for disaster recovery or major outage, to ensure service continuity is maintained.

* Act as Subject Matter Experts for specific systems or services, in order to provide an escalation point for technical problems.

Qualifications

* Analytical skills

Use of a variety of diagnostic techniques to understand a situation/issue/problem by breaking it down and tracing the root cause/underlying implications in a methodical step-by-step way.

* Communications skills

Clearly and effectively communicates information, ideas, plans, requests and opinions to internal and external stakeholders through a range of channels, including written and oral. Ensures alignment with communication guidelines and policies.

* Continuous improvement

Applies a systematic approach to help optimise business activities and processes to support the strategic objectives of the organisation. Includes significant process transformation activities as part of continuous change programmes.
