Various sources (I sound like the Daily Mail…) have claimed that the average job seeker spends approximately 90 seconds reading a job advert before deciding whether to press 'next' or 'apply'.

So with that in mind, I wanted to try and craft something that is short (and sweet), informative and hopefully something that gets your attention.

Here it goes…

I have partnered up with a leading Software Partner in the North East who are looking to recruit an experienced Cloud Engineer to their managed services and infrastructure function. This role is purely growth driven (i.e. you aren't replacing anyone) and is due to this organisation's increasing cloud-focused workload.

The organisation themselves are established in both the North East and the wider UK, with an excellent reputation for both providing and developing high-quality and scalable solutions across a range of technology areas (Azure, AWS, .NET, SharePoint etc.). Their 2018 strategy is to increase both their headcount and client base and this role is a key part of that.

Reporting into their Infrastructure Manager, the core focus of this role will be to provide support for Cloud-based technologies as well as getting involved in the project delivery lifecycle and even some pre-sales consulting. The role is customer-facing in that you will be expected to engage with their external customers but the benefit is that the travel is limited (less than 10% of the time).

Ultimately, you will be given the responsibility to ensure smooth delivery of Cloud-related services across all of their clients, as well as for their internal network and server environment. You should be technical minded and will likely have clear commercial experience in both architecting and delivering Cloud solutions, including migrating infrastructure/applications from an on-premise environment.

In terms of some of the key skills, experience with some of (if not all) of the following would be ideal:

* Experience of core Cloud-based services on either Azure (Virtual Machines, Azure Blob Storage, Azure SQL, Azure DNS, Azure AD) or AWS (EC2, S3, VPC, EBS, Route53).

* Proven commercial experience both configuring and maintaining Windows Server environments (2008 - 2012) and Linux environments (CentOS, Ubuntu).

* Experience migrating from an on-premise main set-up to an Office365 Cloud-based environment (Exchange Online).

* Understanding and experience adopting a DevOps-focused strategy (CI/CD) and culture.

* Commercial experience with Cloud automation technologies (Chef, Puppet, Ansible) and Cloud backup solutions (Cloudberry).

* Understanding of the project delivery lifecycle, project methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2) and ITIL.

* Experience managing virtualised environments (VMWare, Hyper V) and networking (DHCP, DNS, NPS, VLAN).

* Good database skills, with commercial experience managing SQL Server (2008 - 2014).

In return for all of the above (I get it… it is quite a detailed list!), you will be offered flexible working hours, occasional home working opportunities, 25 days holiday and company sick pay. Moreover, you will be given the chance to obtain highly valuable and industry leading certifications (e.g. AWS, Azure, Office365, Exchange) which will all be covered as part of your package.

So there you have it... an advert that is hopefully short and sweet enough for you.

If you want to follow it up with a chat then you can give me a call on either my office line (0191 338 7540) or my mobile (07943721308). Alternatively, you can send me an email to [email protected] or search for 'Liam Haghighat' on LinkedIn (trust me, I am pretty easy to find with my surname!).
