DV Cleared TSSS Systems Technician (PC) - Central London - 5 months

DV Cleared TSSS Systems Technician (PC) required to join a client based in Central London on a 5-month contract.

Key Skills:

* Migrating old kit (Cisco & ATM) to new kit (predominantly Juniper)

* Understand Juniper might be low in the market so will accept candidates going through or who have Cisco accreditation

* They will be monitoring and managing the network

* Have to be comfortable working in the secure/cleared environment

The Role:

* 14 shifts in a month

* 4 week shift pattern: You will work 7 days / then have 7 days off & 7 nights / then 7 days off

* A new shift starts on a Monday and all shifts are 12 hours long

* Shifts are either: 7am - 7pm or 7pm - 7am

* There will be three people on a shift at a time

* You must be self-sufficient when resolving routine problems or enquiries across several products, product sets and systems or technologies for multiple customers. You must be able to work under pressure, deal with unexpected problems, more complex escalations, and help maintain the availability of the IT services delivered to end users. You will also deliver low to medium complexity work packages as part of customer implementation projects.

* You must provide proactive and reactive network management, including resolution of network incidents, root cause analysis and completion of change and incident requests, whilst providing BAU network support to the Customer Authority.

* The role will focus on remotely resolving incidents and ensuring SLAs are met.

* A strong network knowledge (CCNA/JNCIA) and understanding of security technologies are desirable.

* We are looking for a real team player with a desire to resolve technical problems who is able to work on their own initiative.

Key Accountabilities

* Technical Capability: Works within a team with some supervision supporting end users with technical queries relating to several products/systems (e.g. Microsoft products, operating systems, networks, applications, PCS).

* Business Awareness: Develops an understanding of the customer's environment and service delivery requirements to enable the delivery of the service.

* Work to a controlled shift pattern in a proven networking environment by following, defining, and implementing system standards. Ensure day-to-day monitoring of a secure network environment by establishing and enforcing policies and monitoring access.

* Follow established processes. Validate and document enhancements to eliminate problems and proactively develop the service.

* Create and update knowledge databases and participate in educational opportunities to assist this process.

* Report network operational statuses by gathering and prioritising information whilst managing incidents.

* Maximise network performance by monitoring and troubleshooting incidents and outages. Organise field engineering work, planning outages and upgrades whilst collaborating with network architects to optimise the secure environment

Mandatory Skills Required:

* CCNA / JNCIA.

* High Technical knowledge of networks, security technologies and their configuration and operational processes.

* Proven commercial networking experience.

* Strong, in depth knowledge of networking hardware, i.e. Encryptors, WAN, TCP/IP, routing, switching and subnetting.

* Experience in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

* Experience with incident management systems.

* Excellent interpersonal qualities and people management.

* DV Clearance, willing to undergo further security checks.

Desirable

* ITIL Foundation or knowledge of ITIL processes.

* Understanding of network security.

* Unix

* Solarwinds
